ПОЛЮСА (Light and Shade)
This film was shot in 1988/1989 when I went to Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) with my then friend Peter Mamonov and his group Zvuki Mu from Moscow. Zvuki Mu had just begun to surface from deep underground and were incredibly popular, although the group was quickly and ruthlessly disbanded by Peter, who constantly sought innovation. This film was lost for 36 years and then discovered by Russian journalist Alexandre Morsin in 2025 by accident. The film was shot on video 8, the quality, after all these years is at times terrible, but nevertheless, I think something of what Peter Mamonov, his group, and the spirit of the time was all about comes across.
